SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Muslin fabric 32"x 42"
  • Patterned fabric, 32"x 42"
  • Cotton batting, 32"x 42"
  • Embroidery thread in desired colors
  • Embroidery needle
  • Scissors
  • Water soluble marker

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Cut a piece of muslin and cotton batting to 32"x 42". Place the muslin on top of the batting and baste them together along the entire edge.
  2. Use a water soluble marker to draw out lines or a design to be hand sewn onto the muslin fabric.
  3. Hand sew along the lines with a running stitch, working through both the muslin and the batting.
  4. When the hand sewing is complete, wet the fabric to remove the marker lines. Allow to dry.
  5. Place the patterned fabric on the muslin, right sides facing. Sew along the edge leaving 1" seams and leaving a hole for turning.
  6. Turn the blanket right side out, and iron the edges flat.
  7. Topstitch around the edge of the blanket.
  8. Use the embroidery thread to stitch along the edge of the blanket with an overcast stitch.
