SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- Brother P-touch Embellish Ribbon & Tape Printer
- Brother P-touch Embellish 1/2" Red Satin Ribbon with Gold Text
- 4" terra cotta pots, 2
- Crafting straw hay
- Jute twine
- Braided crafting straw
- Scissors
- Glue gun/glue gun sticks
- Burlap
- Fabric fall leaves
- Googly eyes
- Yarn (optional)
DIRECTIONS:
- Begin by hot gluing a bit of crafting straw hay to the bottom of one terra cotta pot.
- Glue the bottom of the other terra cotta pot to the bottom of the first terra cotta pot.
- Glue braided crafting straw to the sides of the top pot.
- Add extra crafting straw hay to the open terra cotta pot on the top. Add fabric fall leaves for extra decoration.
- Measure out and cut enough burlap to cover the sides of the top pot.
- Glue the measured burlap to the face of the top pot.
- Add googly eyes to the surface on the burlap part of the top pot.
- Glue jute twine under the eyes to form a happy smile on your scarecrow.
- For added decoration, you can add a burlap patch to the body of the scarecrow. We also made a little bow tie out of yarn and glued it to our scarecrow but you can also create a bow out of ribbon using your P-touch.
- Using the braided crafting straw, cut the desired length for legs.
- Glue the legs to the bottom half of the terra cotta pot.
- Personalization instructions:
- Insert 1/2" Red Satin Ribbon with Gold Text into your Brother P-touch Embellish Ribbon & Tape Printer.
- Make sure your machine is reset by holding down shift and the backspace button. Choose Text&Format and press OK.
- Select the “Font" button on your P-touch Embellish machine and scroll until you see the “Florida" font.
- Select “OK."
- Write your personalized message. We typed out “Sarah's First Fall".
- Select the “Frame" button.
- Scroll until you see number “36", which is the leaves and tree frame.
- Select “OK".
- When you are finished, select the “Print" button.
- Glue your ribbon to the bottom of the lower terra cotta pot.
JOANN HACKS:
- You can add fun frames with the Frame key and scroll through till you find the perfect one.
- Remember to always clear your ribbon & tape printer before you start a new project or it will use the setting that you set with your last one.
