SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- Fabric for the face mask
- Complementary fabric for ties
- Sewing machine
- Scissors or rotary cutter
- Ruler or measuring tape
- Thread
- Straight pins
- Iron
DIRECTIONS:
- To find the downloadable pattern, click on "GET PATTERNS" tab above.
- Using the mask fabric, cut out patterns using the cutting directions on the pattern.
- Seam allowance is 1/4" unless stated otherwise.
- From the complementary fabric, cut two strips of fabric 1 1/2"x 40".
- Cut two strips 5"x 1 1/2".
- Fold strips in half lengthwise and press. Open up and bring both edges to the center fold lines and press. Fold in half and press.
- Match outer mask pieces right sides together and sew the outer curve. Repeat with lining pieces.
- Open both mask halves and press both seam allowances to the right.
- Topstitch down the center seam allowance about 1/4" from the seam.
- Match front and back pieces, wrong sides together, nesting center front seams.
- Baste layers of mask together using 1/8" seam allowance around the edge of the mask.
- Apply two smaller strips to the sides of the mask, trim smaller strip edge to be even with the rest of the mask.
- Center one long piece and pin across the top edge of the mask folding over the edges.
- Topstitch along the edge of the tie.
- Center the other tie along the bottom of the mask and sew.
- Finish tie ends by folding twice and tacking into place or knotting ends.
