SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Large Craft Sticks
  • Standard Craft Sticks
  • Acrylic Paint, Light Purple
  • Acrylic Paint, Medium Purple
  • Acrylic Paint, Orange
  • Acrylic Paint, Peach
  • Acrylic Paint, White
  • Medium Flat brush and small detail brush
  • Black Paint Markers
  • Hot Glue Gun /Glue Gun Sticks
  • Photo
  • Foamie Stickers
  • Scissors
  • Duct Tape*

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Use four large craft sticks to make a square for the body of the haunted house. Add another one to the bottom of the square to create the rectangular opening for the photo. Add two to the top of the square attaching them at the top corners on either side and then together in the middle to make a triangular roof shape. Fill in the roof line as you wish with small and large craft sticks to add interest.
  2. Base paint body of the house and roof your desired colors. See photos for inspiration.
  3. Cut 2 small craft sticks in half. Paint desired color and set aside to dry. Once dry attach them to the bottom left of the house, 3 vertical and one across the middle horizontal. You do not want them perfectly straight so they look like they are broken on an old scary house.
  4. Add on stickers and small details with a paint marker and small detail brush.
  5. Once everything is dry flip the frame over and place your photo face down in the frame. You can trim down a 4x6" photo to fit but leave an overlap to tape or glue the photo to the frame on the back.

JOANN HACKS:

  • You can paint the body of the house and the roof of the house separate if you are a messy painter or making with small children. It can be tricky to paint the overlapping sticks and not get them on the ones underneath. To do this just assemble the body of the house and the roof separate, then paint. Once the paint is dry glue the roof onto the house and proceed.
