- Cut ribbon 20" long.
- Cut two of fabric and 2 interfacing in shape of pattern.
- Iron-on the interfacing.
- Line up the two pieces of fabric facing each other.Sew around the edges, leaving about 1 1/2" open on one long side back stitching there.
- Clip off corners then turn right side out.
- Press making sure seam allowance is turned under at opening. *With the silver foil fabric have iron on lowest setting & use a press cloth. It's easy to dull the shine.
- Top stitch near the edge on the edge that is 2 3/4".
- Fold up at the fold line and pin down.
- Top stitch very close to the edge around the outside. This closes the opening too.
- Sew a very small, basic buttonhole at the top middle to put your ribbon through. Open with a punch, seam ripper, or tiny scissors.
JOANN HACKS:
- Use a chopstick inside to poke the corners out when turning right side out.
- Whenever sewing machine buttonholes do a few tests on scrap fabric to see where the finished hole lines up with where you marked it.
- If you're opening your buttonhole with a seam ripper or scissors put a pin in next to the stitching you are cutting toward so you don't snip any threads.
