- 3/8yd Print Flannel for Body (from flannel 2 yard pre cut)

DIRECTIONS:
NOTE: Finished Size is around 11".Enlarge patterns (see Get Patterns tab).
- Cut out 2 body pieces from print flannel and 2 head pieces from solid brown flannel.
- Use a disappearing marker to trace 2 antler patterns onto the WS of white flannel.
- Lay 2 pieces of flannel RST and stitch antlers along drawn lines, leaving bottom open for turning.
- Trim seam and clip curves.
- Turn RS out and press; then lightly stuff antlers above stitching line.
- Use a disappearing marker to trace 2 ear patterns onto the WS of brown flannel.
- Lay 2 pieces of flannel RST and stitch ears along drawn lines, leaving bottom open for turning.
- Trim seam and clip curves and points.
- Turn RS out and press.
- On WS (paper side) of fusible webbing trace on the muzzle and the inside of ears patterns.
- Follow manufacturer's directions and fuse muzzle to WS of tan flannel and inside ears to WS of pink flannel.
- Cut out muzzle and inside ears along drawn lines.
- Fuse pink inside ears to brown ears.
- Use 1/2" seam allowance and sew head to body front and back.
- Fuse muzzle to front of head. NOTE: muzzle is slightly below head seam, see photo.
- With RST, pin or baste ears and antlers to head as indicated.
- With RST, using a 1/2" seam, stitch together the front and back, leaving an opening in the bottom for turning; do not sew cut out bottom corners.
- To make a flat bottom, bring together the seams of the bottom cut out corners and stitch 1/2" seam across.
- Clip curves and corners and turn RS out.
- Stuff to desired fullness; slip-stitch opening closed.
- Use disappearing marker to draw on eyes and nose, see photo.
- Use pearl cotton and satin stitch on eyes and nose.
- For scarf, fold 3"x 24" red flannel in half lengthwise and use a 1/4" seam to sew together, leaving ends open.
- Turn RS out and press.
- Create fringe on scarf by pulling the threads to fray the ends.
JOANN HACKS:
- Muzzle and inside ears can also be machine appliqued onto face after fusing in place.
- To hand applique, add 1/4" to patterns before cutting for turning under.

DIRECTIONS:

- Create fringe on scarf by pulling the threads to fray the ends.
- For hat, stitch together short side of 6"x 18" print flannel.
- Turn under 3/4" on bottom side of hat and turn under again to make casing for elastic.
- Stitch close to top fold, leaving an opening for elastic.
- Insert elastic, stitch ends together and sew opening closed.
- Fray top edge of hat down about 1".
- Use a piece of pearl cotton to gather top together and tie tightly.

DIRECTIONS:
Enlarge patterns.- Cut out 2 body pieces from print flannel and 2 head pieces from solid red flannel.
- On WS (paper side) of fusible webbing trace on the face pattern.
- Follow manufacturer's directions and fuse the face to the WS of white flannel.
- Cut out face along drawn lines.
- Fuse face to front of head even with seam edge.
- Use 1/2" seam allowance and sew head to body front and back.
- With RST, using a 1/2" seam, stitch together the front and back, leaving an opening in the bottom for turning; do not sew cut out bottom corners.
- To make a flat bottom, bring together the seams of the bottom cut out corners and stitch 1/2" seam across.
- Clip curves and corners and turn RS out.
- Stuff to desired fullness; slip-stitch opening closed.
- Use disappearing marker to draw on eyes and beak, see photo.
- Use pearl cotton and satin stitch on eyes and beak.
- For scarf, fold 3"x 24" print flannel in half lengthwise and use a 1/4" seam to sew together, leaving ends open.
- Turn RS out and press.
- Create fringe on scarf by pulling the threads to fray the ends.
- For ear muffs, cut out two 4" circles from the white flannel, machine or hand gather all around edge.
- Pull gathering into a ball and lightly stuff; pull gathering and stitch closed.
- Fold 2"x 10" print flannel in half lengthwise and use a 1/4" seam to sew together, leaving ends open.
- Turn RS out and press.
- Pull elastic through and secure ends.
- Stitch ear muffs over ends of elastic bands and stitch to side of head.
