DIRECTIONS:
- Cut the paper to the max overall dimension you’d like for your ornament.

- Use scissors or an X-Acto knife to cut out the shape - this will be the silhouette for the ornament and all your detailing will be adhered to this paper backer.

3 Dimensional Paper Ornaments
SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- Solid and patterned paper/cardstock
- Scissors
- X-Acto® knife
- Hot glue
- Yarn
DIRECTIONS:
- Cut two pieces of paper to the max overall dimension you’d like for your ornament (these can be two different colors/patterned paper if you’d like).
- On the back of the paper draw out the shape you’d like.
- Combine both sheets of paper and use scissors or an X-Acto knife to cut out the shape - these will be the silhouettes for ornament and all your detailing will be adhered to this paper backer.
- To make the shape 3 dimensional you’ll want to create a paper bridge/channel from the front piece of paper to the back piece of paper. This can be done by cutting strips of paper 1" or wider and folding down the edges to make tabs.
- Adhere one of the tabs to the back of your front piece of paper and glue the corresponding tab to the back sheet.
- Repeat this step for however many sides you have on your ornament shape until you have no gaps all around your piece.
- Decide what other paper/patterns you’d like to add to the front of the ornament (you can decorate the back as well if you’d like to see both sides), cut out the shapes, and play around with the different options until you’re satisfied.
- Use hot glue to adhere the accent pieces to the paper backer.
- Cut a piece of yarn approximately 6" long. Loop the two ends together and make a knot. This will be used to hang your ornament.
- To attach the yarn to the back or top of your 3D paper ornament, cut a small strip of paper about 1" wide and 1/2" tall. Slip the yarn loop onto the middle of the paper and glue the two ends of the paper strip to secure the yarn.
- You’re ready to hang your ornament.
