SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- 1 Piece of felt 36" square - color of your choice
- 1 Roll of each color of ribbon for each row, at least 2" wide or wider
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Scissors
- Pins
DIRECTIONS:
- Cut your felt square into a 36" circle. Cut up one side of the circle to the center of the felt circle. At the center of the circle make a 6" hole.
- Starting at the edge at the bottom of the skirt, and at one side of where you cut up to the middle, hot glue your ribbon at the edge leaving a 1" piece to overhang and attach to the back of the tree skirt.
- Start to glue the ribbon around the front edge of the skirt looping it at you go. You can make the waves as big as you desire. Do this all the way around the circle. When you get to the other side, leave a tail of about 1" to then wrap around and glue to the back of the skirt. This is your first row.
- For the next row, overlap the first row by 1/4" when you start to hot glue the second row. Continue to make the same size loops as you hot glue the second row in place. Repeat this technique for every row.
- When you get to the top row, fold the ribbon in half and glue it around the neck of the 6" opening.
- To finish off the tree skirt, cut six 14" ribbons of the same color and glue 2 of them across from each other to the backside of the side opening. Tie it close with a decorative bow. Starting at the bottom of the side opening, glue 2 of them in sets on each side of the opening. Glue the next set in the middle up the opening. Glue the final set at the top of the opening. You can then tie it closed up the side of the skirt.
JOANN HACKS:
- The ribbon will look better if you layer the different colors of ribbons to give it more interest.
