  • Royal Icing (2 recipes needed; recipe available at wilton.com)
  • Color Right Performance Color System (see Colors Tinted below)
  • Disposable Decorating Bags
  • Decorating Tip 3 (four needed)
  • Favorite roll-out gingerbread cookie dough recipe (for gingerbread boys cookies)
  • Favorite roll-out sugar cookie dough recipe (for tree cookies)
COLORS TINTED
Royal Icing
Use Color Right base colors and QuickCount color formulas to tint the following shade:
  • Winter Red: 1 cup white royal icing + 20 R
  • Spring Green: 2 cups white royal icing + 15 Y + 3B
  • Yellow: 1/2 cup white royal icing + 4 Y

  • DIRECTIONS:

    1. Bake cookies. Prepare cookie dough following recipes. Roll out dough and cut shapes. Bake and cool.
    2. Tint icing. Prepare royal icing. Divide icing and tint as follows: Gingerbread boy — 1/2 cup red, reserve 1/2 cup white; Trees—2 cups green, 1/2 cup yellow, 1/2 cup red.
    3. Decorate cookies. Gingerbread boys: Use tip 3 and full-strength white icing to pipe wavy lines on arms and legs and dot and string facial features. Use tip 3 and full strength red icing to pipe dot buttons and dot and bead bows. Trees: Use tip 3 and full-strength green icing to outline cookies. Use a cut decorating bag to flow in with same color thinned icing. Allow to dry 4 hours. Use tip 3 and full-strength yellow icing to pipe string garland. Use tip 3 and full-strength red icing to pipe dot berries. Allow to dry 4 hours.
