Balsa Wood Plant Holders

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Balsa economy bag, wood assortment
  • DecoArt, Dazzling Metallics, Metallic Acrylic Paint: Worn Penny
  • Apple Barrel, Acrylic Paint: Pewter Grey
  • Delta Creative, Ceramcoat Acrylic Paint: Tahiti Blue
  • Small terra cotta pots
  • Paintbrush
  • Masking tape
  • X-acto® knife
  • Pattern templates
  • Pencil

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Trace the shapes of the pattern template onto two pieces of balsa wood.
  2. Use the X-acto knife to cut away the pieces of balsa wood.
  3. Use masking tape to tape off a design onto the wood pieces.
  4. Paint desired areas. Allow to dry. Remove masking tape.
  5. When the pieces are painted and dry, assemble the two wood pieces by sliding them together.
  6. Place the terra cotta pot onto the spot on the top of the planter.

JOANN Hacks:

  • The size of the plant holder can be adjusted by tracing the desired size of the plant pot onto larger balsa wood pieces.
