SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
  • 2 yds of flannel for backing
  • One twin size package of quilt batting
  • 5/8 yd each of 2 patterned and 2 solid 40” wide fabrics
  • 1/2 yd solid flannel for binding
  • Basic sewing supplies
  • Sewing machine with walking foot

DIRECTIONS:
  1. Cut 40” x 65” rectangles out of backing fabric and quilt batting.
  2. Cut (4) 8”x 40” rectangles, (4) 6” x 40” and (5) 4”x40”
  3. Arrange rectangles in aesthetically pleasing manner. Using ½” seam allowance, sew wrong, long ends together. Press all seams to one side.
  4. Sandwich batting between backing and quilt topper (with wrong-sides of topper and backing facing batting). Pin well and prepare for quilting.   
  5. Stitch in the ditch between each seam to quilt all layers together. Baste around edges of quilt.
  6. Cut 230” of 2” wide bias and sew together in one long strip (using ¼” seam allowance).
  7. Using ½” seam allowance, sew bias strip around quilt edges right-sides together (mitering corners as you go). Fold bias up and over to back side of quilt and fold under ½” of seam allowance. Hand stitch to quilt backing.
