GAUGE:
5 stitches = 4" [10 cm]

DIRECTIONS:

Note: Right side of project is facing at all times. Do not turn work at end of rows.
Count 26 loops for foundation row (noting yarn end is at far right and all loops are facing upwards).
1st row: Working from left to right, pull 27th loop (from 'working yarn') up through 26th loop (last loop of foundation row) from behind to create a knit st. *Bring yarn to front, pull next loop from working yarn towards back through next loop to create a purl st. Bring yarn to back, pull next loop from working yarn up through loop from behind to create a knit st. Repeat from * to last loop. Bring yarn to front, pull next loop from working yarn towards back through next loop to create a purl st. Do not turn work. 26 sts in row.
2nd row: Working from right to left with working yarn in back, pull next loop from working yarn up from behind through last st worked on previous row to create a knit st. *Bring yarn to front, pull next loop from working yarn towards back through next loop to create a purl st. Bring yarn to back, pull next loop from working yarn up through loop from behind to create a knit st. Repeat from * to last loop. Bring yarn to front, pull next loop from working yarn towards back through next loop to create a purl st.
3rd row: Working from left to right with working yarn in back, pull next loop from working yarn up from behind through last st worked on previous row to create a knit st. *Bring yarn to front, pull next loop from working yarn towards back through next loop to create a purl st. Bind off row: Working in same direction as last row, pull 2nd st through first st. Pull 3rd st through 2nd st. Pull 4th st through 3rd st. Continue in this manner to end of row. Leave at least 28 loops of working yarn attached for seaming.
Seam: Fold Cowl in half lengthwise (with right sides facing together). Working along top and bottom edges, pull first loop from working yarn up through both thicknesses. Working evenly along edge, pull 2nd loop up through both thicknesses. Pull first loop through second loop. Continue in this manner along edge. Cut last loop to create yarn tail. Pull yarn tail through last loop. Tie to secure and weave in ends.
