SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Bernat® Alize® Blanket-EZ™ yarn (6.4 oz/180 g; 18 yds/16 m)
  • Main Color (MC) Dark Gray, 4 balls
  • Contrast A Cream, 4 balls

MEASUREMENTS:
Approx 52" x 60" [1/2 x 1/2.5 cm]

GAUGE:
5 stitches = 4" [10 cm]

DIRECTIONS:

Notes:
Blanket is worked lengthwise.
Right side of project is facing at all times.
“Working yarn" is held behind sts throughout work.
Loops from working yarn are always pulled through sts from back to front of work.

Stripe Pattern
With MC, work 4 rows. With A, work 2 rows. These 6 rows form Stripe Pattern.
With MC, count 75 loops for foundation row (noting yarn end is at far right and all loops are facing upwards).
1st row: Working from left to right, pull the 76th loop (from 'working yarn') up through 75th loop (last loop of foundation row) from behind to create a knit st. Pull next loop from working yarn up through next loop of foundation. Continue in this manner to end of row. Do not turn work. 75 sts in row.
2nd row: Working from right to left, pull next loop from working yarn up from behind through last st worked on previous row. *Pull next loop from working yarn up from behind through next st. Repeat from * across to end of row. Do not turn.
3rd row: Working from left to right, pull next loop from working yarn up from behind through last st worked on previous row. *Pull next loop from working yarn up from behind through next st. Repeat from * across to end of row. Do not turn
4th row: As 2nd row.
First 4 rows of Stripe Pattern are complete. Break MC. Join A. Keeping continuity of Stripe Pattern, repeat 3rd and 4th rows 24 times more, ending with 4 rows of MC.
Next row: With MC, as 3rd row.
Bind off row:
Working in same direction as last row, pull 2nd st through first st. Pull 3rd st through 2nd st. Pull 4th st through 3rd st. Continue in this manner to end of row. Cut last loop to create a yarn 'tail'. Tie to secure and weave in ends.

Loopy Stripes
Cut strand of A 77 loops long. Cut first and last loop of strand to create a yarn “tail" at both ends. Weave strand up through center of first loop along 5th row (first row of first A Stripe), pulling strand all the way through so first loop on strand is centered at front of first loop of 5th row (yarn tail extends beyond edge of Blanket). Continue weaving strand down between loops and back up through center of next loop across row, at same time making sure next loop on strand is centered and sticking out at front of next loop of row. Tie off and weave in yarn “tails" to secure.
Repeat for 6th row (second row of first A stripe). Create Loopy Stripes by repeating down length of Blanket in each A stripe.
