SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • White bird cage
  • Wooden ready-to-decorate crate
  • Chalkboard sign 8" x 10"
  • Ready-to-decorate word LOVE
  • Ready-to-decorate wooden love birds
  • Medium paintbrush
  • Small paintbrush
  • Roll of floral tape
  • Acrylic paints: teal, white, burgundy
  • Can of chalk white spray paint
  • Can of rose gold paint
  • Roll of 1/4" wide teal ribbon
  • Package of adhesive hangers
  • Chalkboard paint marker
  • Hot glue gun & glue sticks
  • Tacky glue
  • Wire cutters
  • Roll of thin floral wire
  • Variety of stems as desired (approx. 25)

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Using the teal paint and medium brush, paint the chalkboard frame teal and allow it to dry. Then paint a light layer of white paint on top to soften the teal color.
  2. Cut 2 pieces of ribbon 4" in length. Loop the ribbon and attach on the top back of the chalkboard frame for hanging the frame.
  3. To print the lettering template click on the "Download Project PDF" button (above).
  4. Using the chalkboard marker, write a verse on the chalkboard frame and allow it to dry.
  5. Paint the ready-to-decorate wood birds white and teal. Allow them to dry.
  6. Spray paint the wooden crate white. This will take a few layers. Allow each layer to dry completely before applying another one.
  7. Spray paint the birdcage with the rose gold paint and allow it to dry.
  8. Place the birdcage on top of the wooden crate to begin building the floral vine. Start with the hydrangea greenery and wire the strands together making one long vine. This will be in the middle of the vine. Build the vine upward towards the birdcage adding the big flowers first. Use the floral tape to attach the blooms to the vine. Attach all of the bigger blooms first and then nestle the smaller ones in and around the big blooms attaching with the floral tape.
  9. Using the floral wire, attach the vine to the bird cage.
  10. Paint the word LOVE white and, after it dries, lightly brush a burgundy color on top. Allow it to dry and then attach to the birdcage with hot glue or tacky glue.
  11. Attach the painted birds to the cage or the chalkboard sign using hot glue or tacky glue.
