SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 100% cotton fabric
  • Fabric Ties: 2yds knit fabric
  • Pattern template (download PDF)
  • Basic sewing supplies

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Download the pattern by clicking “download PDF" below Print Description on the right.
  2. Cut four pieces of pattern out of fabric (cut 2 together, twice).
  3. Cut fabric ties to about 18" each.
  4. To make your own knit fabric ties, cut strips of knit fabric 1 1/2" wide. Stretch strips out until knit fabric rolls. Trim down to 18" lengths.
  5. Match pieces right sides together, and sew the outer curve using 3/8" seam allowance. Repeat with remaining two pieces.
  6. Open pieces and press both seam allowances to the right.
  7. Topstitch down the seam allowance, about 1/4" from the seam.
  8. Lay one half of the mask down with the right side facing up. Pin raw ends of fabric ties in each corner, placing them 1/2" up/down from the top and bottom edges. Finished tie ends should extend toward the middle of the mask. Once ties are pinned in place, bundle the tie ends together in the center of the mask.
  9. Match front and back pieces right sides together, nesting center front seams.
  10. Pin and sew around the exterior of the mask, leaving a small opening at the bottom of the mask between the center front seam and corner.
  11. Clip across corners, taking care not to cut through the stitching.
  12. Turn mask right side out and press.
  13. Topstitch around the mask, closing the hole at the bottom in the process.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 100% Scale Please! Why can't the pattern be at 100%? Unable to get my printer to make it 100%.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wire for nose - easy to add Printed the pattern at 110%. The added a pocket for a nose wire, used 20 gauge electrical wire. Just stitched a long thin pocket for the nose wire before I closed up the mask. Then zigzagged over the nose wire so it won't pop out in the wash.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best Fit so far Made several mask for my family. They like the tie backs with elastic and cord locks to make it a snug fit. I adjusted the arch more curve fit for glasses and about 2" at chin,a narrow fit at sides. Seems like alot of changes but sometimes you just need a pattern, then you get creative.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A simple, effective & formfitting facemasks I've taken on the challenge with sewing facemasks. By far, this is the most formfitting and comfortable facemask when worn. It's an easy pattern. I also appreciate the variety of size patterns available. I needed a pattern for kids. I did some slight modifications (added 1/2" more on the sides) so that it can be reversable, and also worn around the neck when not in use (makes it kid friendly and minimizes loss of masks too)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Print pattern at 109% Lots of comments about the pattern not printing at the correct size. To solve the problem, use you printer's scale setting and set the scale to 109%. The printed pattern will then come out the right size

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Mask making pattern I printed out the pattern suggested above fro an adult but it is too small from chin to nose. So suggest measuring before cutting fabric from the pattern.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Professional business mask The template for the pattern is not accurate at all ! It would help if you would give correct measurements

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Printer Adjustment to make mask to scale Although my printer scale was 100%, the pattern was off. After several tries I discovered the printer needed to be set at 110.5%, and that brought the pattern to scale.
