Apply the Heat N’ Bond fusible interfacing to the wrong side of the fabric before cutting. This is both for the assembly of the butterflies, and to give the fabric stiffness to hold their shape.

    Cut:
Follow the prompts in Design Space to cut the image from the assorted fabrics.
    Assembly:
  1. Clip the fine wire into lengths about the width of your butterflies—one for each—the lightly bend them to match the top contour of each butterfly. Try not to bend the wire into tight shapes.
  2. Sandwich a bent wire between the top edge of two matching butterfly cutouts, taking care to line up the two cutouts with right sides out.
  3. With the wire between the two fabric cutouts, press the cutouts to adhere them together using an iron or heat press.
  4. As the butterflies cool, gently shape their wings, using the wire sandwiched inside each one to curl each wing into the desired position.
  5. Use hot glue to embellish the wings with the string pearls. Run the pearls along the body, wing edges, or in patterns on the wings.
  6. Hot glue the butterflies onto the main art board in a flock, following a curve. For a more natural look, vary their angle and spacing. Glue some overhanging the edge of the art board by attaching the edge of their wings to give a more free look.
  7. Back some matching picture frames with complimentary patterned cardstock and hot glue gun one or two butterflies into each frame for a collection look.
