  • Susan Bates® Crochet Hook: 5mm [US H-8]
  • Yarn needle
  • GAUGE: 14 dc = 4" (10 cm); 7 dc rows = 4" (10 cm). CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge given.

Dishcloth measures 7" (17.8 cm) square.

Dishcloth is worked in the round from the center out. Wreath motif and bow are crocheted separately then stitched to the dishcloth.

DISHCLOTH

With A, ch 4; slip st to first ch to join ring.

Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughout), 15 dc in ring, slip st to first dc to join – 16 dc. Round 2: Ch 3, 4 dc in same st, dc in next 3 dc, *5 dc in next dc, dc in next 3 dc; repeat from * twice, slip st to first dc to join – 32 dc. Round 3: Ch 3, dc in next dc, 5 dc in next dc, *dc in next 7 dc, 5 dc in next dc; repeat from * twice, dc in last 5 dc, slip st to first dc to join – 48 dc. Round 4: Ch 3, dc in next 3 dc, 5 dc in next dc, *dc in next 11 dc, 5 dc in next dc; repeat from * twice, dc in last 7 sts, slip st to first dc to join – 64 dc. Round 5: Ch 3, dc in next 5 dc, 5 dc in next st, *dc in next 15 dc, 5 dc in next dc; repeat from * twice, dc in last 9 dc, slip st to first dc to join – 80 dc. Round 6: Ch 3, dc in next 7 dc, 5 dc in next st, *dc in next 19 dc, 5 dc in next dc; repeat from * twice, dc in last 11 dc, slip st to first dc to join – 96 dc. Fasten off. Break A, leaving a 6" (15.2 cm) tail.

 

Wreath

With B, make an adjustable ring as follows: Wrap yarn around your finger with the yarn tail to the left and under the working yarn. Insert hook through the circle from front to back. Using the working yarn, yarn over and pull up a loop. Round 1: Ch 4 (counts as dc + ch 1), [dc, ch 1] in ring 19 times, slip st to first dc to join round; tighten beginning yarn tail to close ring – 20 dc, 20 ch-spaces. Round 2: Ch 4 (counts as dc + ch 1), dc in next ch-space, (dc, ch 1, dc) in each ch-space around, slip st to first dc to join round – 40 dc, 20 ch-spaces. Fasten off. Break B, leaving a 6" (15.2 cm) tail.

Bow

With C, make an adjustable ring. Row 1: Ch 4 (counts as tr), 2 tr in ring, ch 4 (counts as tr), slip st in ring, ch 4 (counts as tr), 2 tr in ring, ch 4 (counts as tr), slip st in ring – 8 tr. Tighten beginning yarn tail to close adjustable ring, forming Bow. Fasten off. Break C, leaving a 6" (15.2 cm) tail.

FINISHING

With yarn needle, weave in Bow yarn ends. Sew Bow to Wreath using the wreath’s yarn tails (or an extra length of B), securing Bow on top center of Wreath (see photo for placement). _x000B_ With an extra length of A, whipstitch Wreath to center of Dishcloth. _x000B_ Weave in all loose ends.
