DIRECTIONS:

48" x 60" Quilt
  1. Read all instructions before starting.
  2. Sew with accurate 1/4" seams throughout.
  3. Trace templates A, B, and C on template plastic and cut shapes.
  4. Cut 6 to 7 - 6 1/2" squares and 6 to 7 - 5 1/2" squares from each of the 12 fabrics.
  5. From the 6 1/2" squares use template A to cut 80 assorted pieces.
  6. Cut 80 pieces from the 5 1/2" squares using template B.
  7. From the quarter circle scraps left from cutting template A, cut 40 pieces using template C or you can cut them from 3 3/4" squares.
  8. Pin piece A on top of B right sides together at curved corners. Ease and sew curved edge with a 1/4" seam.
  9. Choose 40 from the 80 sewn pieces and add C as shown in Layout diagram.
  10. Lay C on top at bottom corner per layout, then pin and applique with a satin stitch. Flip piece over and trim 1/4" from stitching.
  11. After you have decided the placement of your pieces, press them in alternating directions so they nest easily. Sew pieces together to form a block, referring to layout. Sew 4 blocks together to make rows.
  12. Sew the 6 rows together.
  13. Sandwich backing, batting and quilt top. Quilt as desired.
  14. Trim and bind your quilt.

JOANN Hacks:

  • When sewing A and B together, place a pin at center, at each corner, and between center and corner. With just 5 pins you can easily ease the curve and sew a perfect 1/4" seam.
