Special Stitch

4-dc Cl (4 double crochet cluster) = Yarn over, insert hook in indicated stitch, yarn over and pull up loop, yarn over, draw through 2 loops on hook (2 loops remain on hook); [yarn over, insert hook in same stitch, yarn over and pull up loop, yarn over, draw through 2 loops] 3 times, yarn over, draw through all 5 loops on hook.

Notes

  1. Throw is made from eight strips._x000B_
  2. Each strip is worked beginning at lower edge. The color is changed every 9 rows according to the color sequences._x000B_
  3. A border is worked around each strip and the strips are sewn together. Then a border is worked around entire outer edge of throw._x000B_

 

COLOR SEQUENCES

Color Sequence 1: Work 9 rows each with *A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H; repeat from * once more. 

Color Sequence 2: Work 9 rows each with *B, C, D, E, F, G, H, A; repeat from * once more. 

Color Sequence 3: Work 9 rows each with *C, D, E, F, G, H, A, B; repeat from * once more. 

Color Sequence 4: Work 9 rows each with *D, E, F, G, H, A, B, C; repeat from * once more.

Color Sequence 5: Work 9 rows each with *E, F, G, H, A, B, C, D; repeat from * once more. 

Color Sequence 6: Work 9 rows each with *F, G, H, A, B, C, D, E; repeat from * once more. 

Color Sequence 7: Work 9 rows each with *G, H, A, B, C, D, E, F; repeat from * once more.

STRIP (make 8 – 1 with each color sequence)

With first color, ch 20. Row 1 (right side): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each remaining ch across, turn—19 sc. Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughout), dc in each sc across, turn. Row 3: Ch 1, sc in first 7 dc, [4-dc Cl in next dc, sc in next dc] 3 times, sc in last 6 dc, turn—16 sc and 3 clusters. Row 4: Ch 3, dc in each st across, turn. Row 5: Ch 1, sc in first 5 dc, [4-dc Cl in next dc, sc in next dc] 5 times, sc in last 4 dc, turn—14 sc and 5 clusters. Row 6: Repeat Row 4. Rows 7 and 8: Repeat Rows 3 and 4. Row 9: Ch 1, sc in each st across, do not turn. Fasten off. Row 10: With right side facing, join next color with slip st in first st, ch 1, sc in same st, sc in each remaining st across, turn. Rows 11–144: Changing color at the beginning of each repeat of Row 10, repeat Rows 2–10 fourteen times, then repeat Rows 2–9 once more. Fasten off. Border: With right side facing, join H with slip st in 2nd st of last row, ch 1, sc in same st, sc in each st across to last st, 3 sc in last st (corner made); working in ends of rows across long side edge, work 11 sc evenly spaced across the edge of each block of color; working across lower edge (opposite side of foundation ch), 3 sc in first ch, sc in each ch across to last ch, 3 sc in last ch; working in ends of rows across long side edge, work 11 sc evenly spaced across the edge of each block of color; work 3 sc in first st of last row; join with slip st in first sc. Fasten off.

 

FINISHING

Using photograph as a guide, arrange strips side by side in numerical order. The color blocks of the same color should appear to be flowing diagonally across the throw. Whipstitch the strips together.

 

 

BORDER

Round 1 (right side): With right side facing, join H with slip st in any st of outer edge, ch 1, sc in same st, [sc in each st to next 3-sc corner, 2 sc in each of the 3 corner sc (corner made)] 4 times, sc in each st to end of round; join with slip st in first sc. Round 2: Ch 1, sc in same st as join, 4-dc Cl in next st, *sc in next st, 4-dc Cl in next st; repeat from * around; join with slip st in first sc. Round 3: Ch 1, sc in each st around; join with slip st in first sc. Fasten off. Weave in any remaining ends.
