SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 3/8 yd Print fabric (or use Fat pack fabrics)
  • 2 1/2" contrasting fabric for strap
  • 3/8 yd heavy fusible interfacing
  • 7" zipper
  • 1" Black parachute buckle
  • Kraft Paper for pattern
  • Pencil
  • Thread
  • Sewing Notions

DIRECTIONS:

    All seams are 1/4" unless stated.
  1. To print the patterns, click on the "Download Project PDF" button (above).
  2. Follow pattern drawing to familiarize with Fanny Pack.
  3. Cut 1 outside fabric and fusible interfacing. Press fusible to fabric.
  4. Cut 1 piece of fabric and fusible for zipper facing 9"x 2". Press.
  5. Cut 1 piece of fabric and fusible for the strap 2 1/2"x 39". Can piece fusible to fit strap if needed.

  6. Press fusible to Fanny Pack purse and zipper facing. Sew zipper facing to one side of fanny pack 7 1/2"x 1/2". Place zipper into opening, edge stitch on the trim edge.
  7. Sew the top and sides closed. Leave opening for the straps to be inserted.

  8. Press 1/4" seam allowance on one edge of strap, fold over half, press. Fold over other seam allowance, edge stitch and press 1/4" seam allowance down. Edge stitch folded edge then cut strap in half. Unzip zipper, place strap through the zipper opening into openings at the sides. Stitch closed. Pull the strap back through the zipper opening.
  9. Hem each end of the strap with a turn and turn hem. Open the Buckle, attach each end to the ends of the strap.
  10. Miter the bottom corners to 1".
