- 7/8 yd Solid color (Grey) fabric for backdrop
- 4 1/2" Heavy interfacing
- 4 1/2" Plaid fabric
- 4 1/2" Checked fabric
- 1 pkg. Grommets

DIRECTIONS:

All seams are 1/4" unless stated.

- Grey fabric: cut (1) 26 1/2"x 31 1/2".
- Fusible Heavy interfacing: cut (1) 26 1/2"x 4 1/2".
- Plaid fabric: cut (2) #1 & #2 for pockets 4"x 3 1/2"
- #5 pocket cut 9 1/2"x 4 1/2".
- #6 pocket cut 4 1/2"x 4 1/2".
- Checked fabric: #4 cut 7 1/2"x 4 1/2".
- #3 pencil holder cut 2 1/2"x 9".
- Press fusible to top of back. Mark with chalk 4 1/2". Fold over the 4 1/2", turn under 1/2". Hem sides and bottom with a turn and turn hem.
- Hem all plaid pockets at top edges with a turn and turn hem. Sew with a 1/4" hem to #1, #2, #5 and #6 to the sides and bottom to Grey fabric as shown in picture.
- Sew #5 the same as #1, #2, & #6, but add a straight stitch down the middle.
- Hem #4 checked fabric with a turn and turn hem at the top, stitch to grey on the sides and bottom with a 1/4" seam.
- Checked pencil holder #3. Fold fabric over and over so that a raw edges are enclosed to end up finished 5/8". Turn under 1/2" seam allowance at the end, sew to Grey fabric. Sew 1" of fabric to a space of 1/2" for 6 loops. This gives a space to hang the pen to the holder. Continue making the rest of strip straight leaving an opening of 4 1/2", turning over a 1/2" seam to finish.
- Insert 5 grommets at the top. Placing one in the center, one on each end, then between each of those.
