SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 1/4yd dark denim
  • 1/4yd light denim
  • Pattern from "JOANN denim mask" at joann.com
  • Kraft paper
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • Thread
  • Sewing notions

DIRECTIONS: All seams are 1/4" unless stated.

  1. Trace three patterns of the mask on to the Kraft paper. One will be used as a guide. Draw 17 blocks numbered, measuring 1 3/8" squares starting at the bottom. The top and center front squares will be slimmer and larger toward the middle because of the shape of the curve. Number each square on two patterns. Cut apart one of the pattern piece and add a 1/4" seam allowance to all inside seams. Lay one layer of dark denim right face down on top of the light denim right side up. Cut and sew all pieces together using the other pattern as a guide.
  2. Cut a light and dark denim mask, sew to the patchwork pieces to all seams except the sides.
  3. Cut two ties 27"x 1 1/8" cross grain. Sew ties together 1/8" seam leaving 4" open at the center, use a loop turner to turn ties right side out. Attach the opening to sides of mask, top stitch closed. Hem with a turn and turn hem at each end of ties.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Instructions Do Not Make Sense I agree with a previous poster. These instructions make no sense. I have made several hundred masks and was looking for something new and different. I really like the look of this, but your instructions are horrible. You might consider a short video.
