  • Polka dotted pink ribbon - 1 spool
  • 1 Round cardboard Wilton cake plate - 16"
  • Small hair rubber bands
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • Safety pins or straight pins
  • Scissors
  • 1 Empty paper towel tube

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Glue the paper towel tube in the middle of the cake board so it stands straight up.
  2. Take the rubber bands and tie around 6 rolled up diapers.
  3. Place the 6 rolls around the base of the cake.
  4. Roll up more diapers and place around the first 6 rolled diapers to make the second row.
  5. Roll up more diapers to place around the second row.
  6. Fold the receiving blanket to about 4" and wrap the folded blanket around the 3 rows of the diapers on the cake board. Secure the blanket around the group of rolls with a safety pin or straight pin.
  7. Start on the second tier and repeat the process of rolling diapers and placing on top of the first row.
  8. Finish the top row with 6 rolled diapers.
  9. Wrap flannel around the two additional rows and secure with safety pins or straight pins.
  10. Hot glue the shredded paper strands around the base.
  11. Tuck in shredded paper around the next two tiers.
  12. Make bows with the yellow and pink ribbons. Hot glue the bows onto the cake.
  13. Place rattles, books, socks around the diaper cake. You can hot glue the hard items in place and then they can pop off afterwards.

Craft Hack Tips and Tricks:

  • Do not hot glue fabric items around the cake such as baby socks. You won't be able to get them off. Instead use safety pins to secure them to the cake.
