DIRECTIONS:

    SHIRTS
  1. Using Cricut Design Space, search for "dino" and "rex" to find silhouettes to cut out.
  2. Insert type of your own dino saying.
  3. Follow the instructions to create iron-on vinyl designs.
  4. Once designs are complete remove from mat and weed out the design.
  5. Iron design onto shirt, 30 seconds on front and back.

  6. TUTU SKIRTS
  7. Cut tulle: (2) 12"x 72" light pink, (2) 12"x 72" dark pink, (4) 11"x 60" (width of fabric) glitter tulle. Lay the tulle on a cutting board. Add weights to the fabric to avoid slippage when cutting. Use a rotary cutter. Press.
  8. Cut Panne: (1 ) 5"x 28". Set aside.
  9. Stitch two of the glitter panels RST on the short side, close to the edge. Repeat. This will create two panels 11"x 120". Set aside.
  10. Dark pink tulle:
  11. Stitch 1/4" from the long, top edge using a long stitch. Backstitch at the beginning only. Take the tail of the bobbin thread and slowly push the fabric toward the beginning of the stitching to gather. Weight the starting end down to the cutting board to hold steady as the gather is adjusted for a consistent gather that finishes to 27" length. Place a binder clip on the end to keep the gather at that length. Take the second dark pink Tulle and repeat the process, dropping the seam down to 3/8" from edge. Line up the stitching on the edges of the two gathered panels. Use binder clips to secure. Use a medium zig zag stitch over the two lines of seams to secure the two panels together. The longest panel (1/4î seam allowance) will be the inside panel of the tutu. Set aside.

  12. Light pink tulle:
  13. Stitch Ωî from top of one and 5/8í from top of second. Repeat process from step 4 to gather and sew together to 27î finish length.
  14. Lay the light pink panels on top of the dark pink panels. Line up the stitching and secure with binder clips. Sew together using a zig zag stitch. This may not create a clean edge. It will be inside of the waistband. Take care to catch all edges with the stitching.

  15. Glitter tulle:
  16. This will be the top layers to the tutu. Repeat the same long stitch gathering process on the two panels. Stitch 3/4" from top of one and 1" down from top of second. Take time to move small sections at a time to avoid thread breaking over this long run. Finish length will be 27". Sew the two panels together lining up the seams. Trim sewn edge to 1/2".
  17. Lay glitter panels on top of the light and dark pink panels lining up the stitching. Work from the dark pink side for ease of sewing. Pin every 1 1/2" to keep all of the layers lined properly. Sew using a wide zig zag stitch.
  18. Waistband: Fold edges over 1/2" to the inside, sew close to the raw edge.
  19. Pin the waistband to the stitched top of the dark pink inside of the tutu. Cover the sewing along the tulle. Sew using a zig zag stitch at the bottom edge of the waistband.
  20. Fold over the waistband and pin over the stitching on the front of the tutu. (See photo.) Sew using a zig zag stitch at the bottom edge of the waistband. The ends will be open to insert the elastic.
  21. Flip the tutu to find the backs of the two short ends of one layer of the glitter tulle. Line up the bottom edges and stitch up the length of the tutu to the waistband. Stitch close to the edges of the panels. Repeat with the other glitter tulle layer. This will close the back of the skirt part of the tutu. If desired, continue this process with the underlying layers of tulle.
  22. Pin one end of the elastic to the opening of the waistband. With a safety pin attached to the other end feed the elastic through the waistband. Fit the tutu to assure the proper length of elastic. Sew the ends of the elastic together using a zig zag stitch. Tuck the ends into the waistband.
  23. Hand stitch the ends of the waistband together. Start at the bottom of the front making sure to line up the bottom edges.

JOANN Hacks:

  • Lay a cotton cloth on top of the pressing surface to avoid transfer of the glitter to the surface.
  • Use a contrast color thread on the gather stitch at the top of the tulle. This will increase the visibility of the seams when laying one gathered panel on top of another.
  • Knit fabric may be substituted for the Panne on the waistband.
