18 inch doll
- 1 yd Quilted pattern flannel fabric for outer sides, front and back of carrier
- 1 yd Solid flannel fabric for lining sides, front and back of carrier
- 1 1/2 yds Cotton batting for carrier
- 1/2 yd Flannel fabric for bottom outer of carrier
- 1/2 yd Flannel fabric for bottom lining of carrier
- 1/2 yd Flannel fabric for pillow
- 1 yd Flannel fabric for blanket
- 1/4 yd Flannel fabric for carrying strap
- Small amount of Poly-Fil for pillow (a couple of handfuls)
- Basic sewing supplies
- Sewing machine with walking foot
- Thread
- Doll carrier sides and back template (1/2" seam allowance included)
DIRECTIONS:
18 inch doll
- Out of patterned flannel, cut 2 sides, 1 front and 1 back. Cut all other pieces out of chosen solids.
- Front is a 9"x 6" rectangle
- Bottom is a 6"x 21 1/2" rectangle
- Out of cotton batting, cut 2 sides, 1 front, 1 back, and 2 bottoms (bottom batting will be doubled)
- Flatline outer fabric with batting by placing batting to wrong side of fabric and machine basting 1/4" in around all edges.
- Quilt outer fabric to batting by topstitching from the right side of patterned fabric onto lines in pattern. This will strengthen the outer carrier.
- Sew sides right-sides together at top, slanted 6" edge. Sew Back to 13" lengths on sides, right-sides together. Sew Front to unsewn 6" sides of carrier. Press all seams open.
- Sew bottom rectangle to uncurved portion of carrier. Press seam allowance toward open, curved edge.
- Sew lining in same fashion as outer carrier (without batting).
- Cut and sew one 65"x 2 1/2" strip (this will require piecing). Sew short ends, right-sides together (1/4" seam allowance). Press strip in half, long right-sides together. Turn under 1/4" on each side edge, and edgestitch long open edge closed. This will be used as the strap.
- Find center portions of strips and bottom of carrier. Place straps 3 1/2" apart from each other in the middle of the bottom of the carrier and pin into place. Continue straps toward top of carrier, stopping pins 1" from top edge (see template). Topstitch straps to carrier, starting and stopping stitches 1" from top of carrier.
- Stitch lining and outer right-sides together, avoiding straps. Leave small hole for turning piece right-side out.
- Turn piece right-side out and press top edge well.
- Stitch 1/4" away from edge to finish opening of carrier and close turning hole.
- Cut 22"x 41" rectangle for blanket and 11"x 13" rectangle for pillow.
- Fold blanket rectangle in half, short, right sides together. Stitch around edges, using 1/2" seam allowance. Leave a small hole for turning.
- Turn piece right-side out and press well. Stitch 1/4" from edge on all sides to finish and close turning hole.
- Fold pillow rectangle in half, shorter, right-sides together. Stitch around edges, using 1/2" seam allowance. Leave a small hole for turning.
- Turn piece right-side out and press well. Stuff pillow with Poly-Fil and hand sew turning hole closed.

nice idea
It would help if you could download the pattern, that is why it is rated so poorly. I would probably recommend it to someone, but why when you can't get the pattern to go with the instructions

Could not download the template.
Could not download the template so I can’t actually rate this project. “URL not found error 404” appeared. Hope this can be fixed so I can try the project.
