EARS (make 2)
Ch 5. Row 1: 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 2 ch, 2 sc in last ch, ch 1, turn—6 sts. Row 2: 2 sc in next st, 4 sc, 2 sc in last st, ch 1, turn—8 sts. Row 3: Sc in each st across, ch 1, turn—8 sts. Row 4: Skip first st, 5 sc, sc2tog, ch 1, turn—6 sts. Row 5: Skip first st, 3 sc, sc2tog, ch 1, turn—4 sts. Row 6: Working along ends of rows, sc around, leaving 4 sts along the bottom unworked, fasten off. Weave in ends and set aside.
HEAD
Round 1: Ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, do not join—6 sc. Round 2: Place marker, *2 sc in each st; repeat from * around—12 sts. Round 3: *Sc, 2 sc in next st; repeat from * around—18 sts. Round 4: *2 sc, 2 sc in next st; repeat from * around—24 sts. Round 5: *3 sc, 2 sc in next st; repeat from *around—30 sts. Round 6: Sc in each st around. Round 7: Make neck opening; ch 5, skip 5 sts, 4 sc, join ears; holding ear against head, sc through all layers for next 4 sts, sc in next 9 sts, join other ear with 4 sc, sc in last 4 sts. Round 8: Sc in each st around. Round 9: *3 sc, sc2tog; repeat from * around—24 sts. Round 10: *2 sc, sc2tog; repeat from * around—18 sts. Round 11: Begin trunk, *sc, sc2tog; repeat from * around—12 sts. Round 12: *Sc, sc2tog; repeat from *around, add post and washer eyes on either side of trunk—8 sts. Rounds 13-16: Sc in each st around. Round 17: *2 sc, sc2tog; repeat from *around, 2 times—6 sts. Rounds 18-19: Sc in each st around. Fasten off, stuff trunk lightly. Using yarn end at trunk in and out of trunk sides, from trunk tip to where it ends at the face. Pull tightly to gather the trunk causing it to turn upwards. Stuff head firmly.
BODY
Join yarn to first st at neck opening. Round 1: Ch 1, sc in each st around—10 sts. Round 2: 2 sc in each st around—20 sts. Round 3: *4 sc, 2 sc in next st; repeat from *around 4 times—24 sts. Rounds 4-7: Sc in each st around. Round 8: *2 sc, sc2tog; repeat from *around—18 sts. Round 9: Sc in each st around. Round 10: Divide sts for legs; 4 sc, skip 10 sts, sc in last 4 sts, first leg opening made—8 sc worked. Stuff torso. Rounds 11-15: Leaving skipped sts unworked, sc in each of the 8 leg sts around. Stuff legs as rounds are completed. Round 16: 2 sc in each st around—16 sts. Round 17: Sc in each st around. Round 18: *Sc, sc2tog; repeat from * around end sc —11 sts. Continue to stuff leg. Round 19: *3 sc, sc2tog; repeat from * twice, end sc—9 sts. Round 20: *Sc, sc2tog; repeat from * 3 times—6 sts. Fasten off, weaving yarn end through hole and pulling tightly to close. Round 21: Begin 2nd leg; Skip 1 st from leg just made (these sts will be sewn closed after making 2nd leg), join yarn to next st, ch 1, sc in st and next 7 sts around—8 sts. Round 22: Repeat Rounds 11-20 for 2nd leg. Fasten off as for first leg. Sew opening closed.
Weave in ends.
