Beginner 1-2 Hours

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Plain small white shades
  • Bottle of matte Modge Podge
  • Medium paintbrush
  • 1/2 yd cotton print fabric
  • Trim for shade
  • Scissors

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Lay the fabric on the lampshade to determine where you want the pattern to lay and how much fabric you will need.
  2. Roll the shade and cut your fabric to be a little larger than the shade.
  3. Starting on one side of the shade, paint it liberally with Modge Podge in about 3" x the height of the shade.
  4. Apply the fabric onto the wet shade and gently smooth out the fabric letting the extra fabric overlap the shade on top and bottom.
  5. Continue to apply the Modge Podge and the fabric to the shade all around the shade until you get back to the beginning.
  6. Using your scissors, trim off the excess fabric top and bottom of the shade.
  7. Apply the trim where you desire and glue in place with the Quick Grip glue.

JOANN Hacks:

  • Always work on a level flat surface.
  • Cut a straight vertical line on the fabric when you start to glue onto the shade. This makes it easier when you finish gluing on the fabric when you get to the end, back at the beginning again.
  • Hold the shade up in the air and trim off the excess fabric at the top and bottom of the shade. This way it is easier to see that you are right at the edge of the shade.
