Felt Ginger Bread House

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

• Felt Sheets: Ruby, Blue, Goldenrod, Red, White, Aqua (1 sheet each)
• 4 Tan Presto Stiff Felt Sheets
• 4 Brown Presto Stiff Felt Sheets
• Embroidery Floss
• Scissors
• Large Embroidery Needle
• Velcro:
3/8" Sticky Back Clear Dot Fasteners (1 pkg)
5/8" Sticky Back Tan Dot Fasteners (3 packs)
5/8" Roll Sew-on Soft Velcro (1 pkg)

DIRECTIONS:

Notes: Cut out the felt from the provided templates, the color felt that each piece should be cut from is noted on the template. To print the templates, click on the "Download Project PDF" button (above).

Gingerbread Sides & Roof Assembly:

1. Cut out the designated pieces of felt from the tan and brown felt. Thread your needle with coordinating Tan or Brown thread and knot the end.
2. Line up the two pieces of stiff felt for one of the sides.
3. Start from the back (so the knot is in the back) and thread the floss up through the two pieces of felt. Sew along the edge of the tan felt about 1/4" from the edge in a blanket stitch to secure the two layers together and to add interest to the edge.
4. Finish off the end by hiding the knot on the inside of the two pieces. Start with the needle coming out from the middle only going through one piece of felt, securing the knot between the layers.
5. Repeat for each side and the roof pieces.

Peppermint Candy Assembly:

6. Using the template, cut the designated pieces from white felt. All are single pieces of felt.
7. Using an embroidery needle and garnet floss, knot the end and hide the knot in the back of the felt by coming from the back to front when starting your first stitch. Stitch 4 together on the edge of the felt repeating 5 times at equal distance. See photo for reference.
8. Secure Velcro tabs to the back of the felt piece to attach to the gingerbread house walls and roof.

Snowflake Candy Assembly:

9. Using the template, cut the designated pieces from ocean blue felt. All are single pieces of felt.
10. Using an embroidery needle and white floss, knot the end and hide the knot in the back of the felt by coming from the back to front when starting your first stitch. Stitch a snowflake design into the center of the felt circle. Vary the design to add interest to each snowflake. See photo for reference.
11. Secure Velcro tabs to the back of the felt piece to attach to the gingerbread house walls and roof.

Decorative Candies, Windows, Snow and Door Assembly:

12. Cut the designated pieces from their coordinating felt color. All are single pieces of felt. Secure Velcro tabs to the back of the felt piece to attach to the gingerbread house walls and roof.

Assembly & Decorating:

13. Cut Velcro strips 2" long from the hook side of the Velcro roll. Use these strips to attach the sides to one another on the side edges. Place one strip at the top and bottom of each joining edge.
14. Attach the 2 roof pieces together in the middle with a piece of Velcro on each end and one in the middle.
15. Decorate the walls and roof with the windows, snow, door and candies. You can use the photos as inspiration.
