Flannel Box Pouf

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 3 yds 45" wide flannel for 2"
  • Fifteen 15"x 17"x 1" foam chair pads
  • 7 1/2 yds of 6/32" cording
  • 9" braid for handle
  • Sewing machine
  • Basic sewing supplies

DIRECTIONS:

  1. 1/2" seam allowance
  2. Cut four 16"x 18" rectangles.
  3. Cut two 16" squares.
  4. Cut enough 1 1/2" bias strips to make 7 1/2 yds cording.
  5. Join bias strips and make piping.
  6. Pipe the perimeter of two rectangles.
  7. On one square, center and stitch handle, folding under cut edge.
  8. On two 16" squares, pipe two parallel edges. Cut 1/2" cording from top and bottom, leaving the fabric to fold over edge and only stitch 1/2" from top and bottom.
  9. For sides, seam the remaining rectangles to these pieces so that each seam has piping (form a rectangle).
  10. Stitch side pieces to top, matching corners, leaving one side open for stuffing. Repeat for bottom.
  11. Turn right side out.
  12. Stuff with chair pads.
  13. Slipstitch opening.
