DIRECTIONS:

  1. To print the patterns, click on the "Download Project PDF" button (above). Enlarge patterns.
  2. Cut one poncho on fold from white fleece. Pattern has two choices for the bottom edge, one smooth curve and one with undulating curves. Mark the beginning and end of the arm holes. Pin across the end marks. Use a rotary cutter to cut the holes. The pins will be a stop for the cutter.
  3. Use the mask as a pattern on the white fleece. Trace around the mask about an inch beyond the edge. Use the fabric glue to attach the fleece to the mask. Trim where needed.
  4. Cut two strips of white fleece 1 1/2"x 13". Fold one lengthwise WST. Sew close to the edge lengthwise. Repeat. These will be the ties. Take one end of one tie and place 3/4" under the neck seam on the front of the poncho, folded side up. Zig zag stitch in place. Repeat for other side.
  5. Press the neck hem down toward the poncho. Sew 1/4" from the seam to flatten the neck seam.

Craft Hack Tips and Tricks:

  • Practice sewing on scraps first. Slow sewing with wider stitching will eliminate irregular stretching.
