SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 24"x 36" canvas
  • 24"x 36" frame
  • Florals (various stems)
  • Pencil
  • Medium flat paintbrush
  • Round paintbrush
  • Hot glue gun/glue gun sticks
  • Wire cutters
  • Spray paint (for frame)
  • Acrylic paint (for vase on canvas): gray, white

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Remove the glass and backer from the frame and spray paint the frame. Use several light coats for best coverage.
  2. While the spray paint is drying, use a pencil to draw out the desired vase on your canvas near the bottom leaving enough space for the florals.
  3. Paint the vase grey and use white to add dimension.
  4. Once the paint is dry put the canvas in the frame and secure with hot glue.
  5. Lay the canvas and frame on a flat surface and start cutting and placing your floral stems onto the canvas in your desired layout. Once you have the layout roughed in, secure the florals in place with hot glue. Make some of the florals come out to the frame to add more dimension and secure them to the frame itself.

JOANN HACKS:

  • Letting the stems pop off the canvas slightly and bending them so they are not all flat against the canvas will add more interest and create a more 3-dimensional look. On the front add shorter stems and florals so they look more head on to the viewer and fill in the center of the vase.
