DIRECTIONS:
  • Open up this Make it Now project in Design Space.
  • This project makes a 3.5” X 5.5” sized tiny tote. You can customize your tote size and design by clicking customize button in the bottom right of the project screen. Hit Make it to make the project as is.
  • Mat 1 - place brown leather smooth side down onto the mat.
  • Tape down the edges of the leather to prevent shifting during cutting.
  • Use a deep cut blade, with the 8mm leather setting on Cricut Air 2 or the  Knife Blade on Maker with faux leather setting.  We recommend trying a small test cut shape on a small scrap before cutting the entire project, to accommodate the vast variety of leather that can be used. We recommend 5 oz weight (2mm) with a relatively stiff feel, for this project.
  • Mat 2 - place gold iron on, liner side down, onto the mat.
  • Don't forget to mirror iron on images!
  • Mat 3 - place cream leather smooth side down onto the mat.
  • Tape down the edges of the leather to prevent shifting during cutting.
  • Assemble
  • Fold the pouch pocket and pieces into shape, and familiarize yourself with how they fit together.
  • Use an EasyPress, or an iron and press cloth, to apply the gold foil iron-on to the side piece.
  • If you have never used iron-on, check out the links below in the 'More Help' section.
  • Tack the straps onto the top of the tote sides with a glover's needle and waxed thread.
  • Fold the tote into shape, and use a whip stitch to sew up both sides.
  • Attach a keyring to the tote straps, if desired.
