SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 1/2yd green linen
  • 1/2yd lining and insulate
  • 12" zipper
  • 12" dowel rods, 2
  • Basic sewing supplies

DIRECTIONS:

  1. To print the patterns, click on the "Download Project PDF" button (above).
  2. Cut one pattern each from linen, lining and insulate.
  3. For zipper: cut two 2"x 2" tabs and 4"x 13" from lining.
  4. Fold tabs in half. Fold the two ends to fold, 1/2". Press.
  5. Place tabs over each end of zipper and sew across. Trim to width of zipper.
  6. Fold the 4"x 13" strip in half (2"x 13").
  7. Sew 1/2" seam on each short side of strip.
  8. Fold and press under 1/2" along the long side.
  9. Slip one strip over the zipper having the edge of strip along the zipper teeth and covering ends of tab.
  10. Stitch close to edge.
  11. Slip the second strip over the other side of zipper.
  12. Stitch close to edge of teeth.
  13. Baste the insulate to back and front of lining.
  14. Pin the finished zipper to back lining 2" from top cut out edge and centered between the sides.
  15. Stitch across zipper.
  16. Pin the remaining side of zipper to front lining 2" from top cut out edge and stitch. (The zipper will NOT be attached to sides of bag.)
  17. Stitch front to back of bag, stopping and starting 5" from top.
  18. Box the bottom of bag by folding bottom to side seam and stitch across 1" from point.
  19. Stitch front to back of lining, stopping and starting 5" from top and leaving an opening at bottom for turning.
  20. With RST pin lining to bag.
  21. Follow pattern marking for stitching top and tab openings.
  22. Open zipper and turn bag through opening in lining.
  23. Press, stitch opening close,
  24. Stitch close to edge around top keeping opening for handles open.
  25. Top stitch 1/4" across each handle tab.
  26. Top stitch across handle tab for the pocket for the wooden handle.
  27. Insert handles through pockets.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from What Measurements? I'm interested in making this bag but there were no specific measurements for what to cut the bag and lining at. I guess you just decide what size you want to make your bag. Very poor instructions.
