STITCH EXPLANATION:
dc2tog (dc 2 sts together) (Yarn over, insert hook in next st and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops) twice, yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook - 1 st decreased.

NOTES:
Top is made in 2 pieces: Back and Front.
Both pieces are worked back and forth in rows from lower edge upwards.
Stitches for cowl are picked up directly around the neck.

BACK:
Ch 85 (94, 103, 1/2, 121, 130).
Row 1 (RS): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across - you will have 84 (93, 1/2, 111, 120, 129) sc in this row.
Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc), turn, sk first st, dc in each st across.
Rows 3-34: Ch 3 (counts as dc), turn, sk first st, dc in each st across working last dc in top of beg ch-3.

Shape Armholes
Row 1 (RS): Ch 1, turn, sl st in first 11 (12, 13, 14, 15, 16) sts, ch 3 (counts as dc), sk next st, dc2tog, dc in each st to last 14 (15, 16, 17, 18, 19) sts, dc2tog, dc in next st; leave last 11 (12, 13, 14, 15, 16) sts unworked - 60 (67, 74, 81, 88, 95) sts.
Rows 2-16 (17, 18, 19, 20, 21): Ch 3 (counts as dc), turn, sk first st, dc in each st across working last dc in top of beg ch-3.
Fasten off.

FRONT:
Make same as Back.

FINISHING:
Sew shoulder seams, leaving about 10 1/2" (11, 11 1/2, 12, 12 1/2, 13) (26.5 (28, 29, 30.5, 32, 33) cm) at center unsewn for neck.

Cowl
From RS, join yarn with a sl st in first st following either shoulder seam.
Rnd 1 (RS): Ch 3 (counts as dc), work an even number of dc evenly spaced around neck edge; join with sl st in top of beg ch-3.
Rnds 2-21: Ch 3 (counts as dc), sk same st as joining sl st, dc in each st around; join with sl st in top of beg ch-3.
Rnd 22: Ch 1, sc in same st as joining sl st, *ch 1, sk next st, sc in next st; rep from * to last st, ch 1, sk last st; join with sl st in first sc.
Fasten off.

Sew side seams, leaving about 5 in. (12.5 cm) unsewn at lower edge for side slits.

Armhole Edging
From RS, join yarn with a sl st in side seam so that you are ready to work around one armhole edge.
Rnd 1 (RS): Ch 1, work an even number of sc evenly spaced around armhole edge; join with sl st in first sc.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in same st as joining sl st, *ch 1, sk next st, sc in next st; rep from * to last st, ch 1, sk last st; join with sl st in first sc.
Fasten off.
Rep edging around 2nd armhole.

Weave in ends.
