SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • LION BRAND REWIND
  • Make Lemonade, 1 ball
  • One plastic ring, about 1" (2.5 cm) diameter
SIZE: The Plant Hanger will be about 44" (1/2 cm) long

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Cut 24 strands of yarn, each about 150" (381 cm) long.
  2. Hold the strands together and fold in half.
  3. Draw the folded strands through the plastic ring, then pull the ends of the strands through the folded loop and tighten — you'll have 48 strands coming from the ring.
  4. Lay the strands onto a flat surface.
  5. Divide the strands into 3 groups of 16 strands each.
  6. Braid the strands together for about 9" (23 cm) below the ring, then knot all of the strands together.
  7. Divide the strands below the knot into 8 groups of 6 strands each.
  8. In one group, divide the 6 strands into 3 groups of 2 strands each.
  9. Braid these strands for about 20" (51 cm), then knot.
  10. Repeat with each of remaining 7 groups.
  11. Beginning with the braid on the left hand side, and working towards the right, label the 8 braids A through H using sticky notes or adhesive labels.
  12. Measure about 6" (15 cm) below the last knots and knot the braids together in pairs: A + B, C + D, E + F, and G + H.
  13. About 2" (5 cm) below the last knots, knot the braids as follows: B + C, D + E, F + G, and H + A.
  14. Coming from below the last knots, you'll have 4 groups of 12 strands each.
  15. Separate each group into 3 groups of 4 strands each and braid for about 4" (10 cm).
  16. When all 4 groups have been braided, knot all braids together.
  17. Below the knot, separate the 48 strands into 3 groups of 16 strands each.
  18. Braid these groups for about 3" (7.5 cm).
  19. Tie a short length of yarn around the strands at the end of the braid, then trim the ends to about 5" (12.5 cm).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fun fairly easy project This was a fun, easy to follow tutorial to try during quarantine. Now that I know what to expect I'll be making a second one to work the kinks out. Used a metal ring because I dont trust plastic to hold nice ceramic pots for very long without cracking eventually.
