TOOLS & SUPPLIES

  • RED HEART® Super Saver®: 1 skein 319 Cherry Red
  • Susan Bates® Crochet Hook:5mm [US I-9]
  • Plastic headband, fiberfill, yarn needle
  • GAUGE: 14 sts = 4” (10 cm); 8 rows = 4” (10 cm) in sc. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.
  • RED HEART® Super Saver®, Art. E300 available in solid color 7 oz (198 g), 364 yd (333 m); multicolor, heather and print 5 oz (141 g), 244 yd (223 m), flecks 5 oz (141g), 260 yds (238 m) skeins

 

Note

Horns are worked from lower edge to tip. They are then folded in half and stuffed with fiberfill. Lower edge is sewn onto a purchased headband.

Special Stitches

sc2tog = [Draw up a loop in next st] 2 times, yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook.

 

HORN (Make 2)

Ch 13.

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch to end, turn – 12 sc.

Rows 2-6: Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across, turn. Row 7: Ch 1, sc2tog, sc in each sc to last 2 sc, sc2tog, turn – 10 sc.

Row 8: Repeat Row 2.

Row 9: Repeat Row 7 – 8 sc.

Row 10: Repeat Row 2.

Rows 11-12: Repeat Row 7 – 4 sc at end of Row 12.

Row 13: Ch 1, [sc2tog] twice, turn – 2 sc.

Row 14: Ch 1, sc2tog. Fasten off.

 

FINISHING

Fold each Horn in half and sew side seam, leaving bottom open. Lightly stuff with fiberfill and sew closed. Position lower edge of each Horn evenly spaced apart on headband and sew on securely. Weave in ends.
