Throw measures 51” x 72”.
Red Heart® With Love™: 5 skeins 1538 Lilac.
Knitting Needles: 6.5mm [US 10.5]. Cable stitch holder, yarn needle.
GAUGES: In pattern: Strip 1 – 35 sts = 8”; 21 rows = 4”; Strip 2 – 35 sts = 10.5”; 18 rows = 4”. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size needle to obtain the gauge given.
Special Abbreviations
Tw2L = Knit in back of 2nd st on left needle, then knit in front of first st and slip both sts off needle together.
Tw2R = Knit in front of 2nd st on left needle, then Knit in front of first st and slip both sts off needle together.
Cable twist = Slip next st onto cable holder and leave at front of work, Tw2R, then K1 from holder.
SKP = slip 1, K1, pass the slipped st over the knit st.
THROW
Strip 1 (Make 3)
Cast on 35 sts.
Row 1 (Right Side): Knit.
NOTE: Slip all sts as if to Purl.
Row 2: P2, slip 1 [P5, slip 1, P1, slip 1] 3 times, P5, slip 1, P2.
Row 3: K2, [Tw2L, K3, Tw2R, K1] 4 times, K1.
Row 4: P3, [slip 1, P3] 8 times.
Row 5: K3, [Tw2L, K1, Tw2R, K3] 4 times.
Row 6: P4, [slip 1, P1, slip 1, P5] 3 times, slip 1, P1, slip 1, P4.
Row 7: K4, [cable twist, K5] 3 times, cable twist, K4.
Row 8: Repeat Row 6.
Row 9: K3, [Tw2R, K1, Tw2L, K3] 4 times.
Row 10: Repeat Row 4.
Row 11: K2, [Tw2R, K3, Tw2L, K1] 4 times, K1.
Row 12: Repeat Row 2.
Row 13: K8, [cable twist, K5] 3 times, K3.
Row 14: Repeat Row 2.
Repeat Rows 3 – 14 for Strip 1 pattern until approximately 66” from beginning, end pattern Row 12. Bind off.
Strip 2 (Make 2)
Cast on 35 sts.
NOTE: Slip sts as if to Knit.
Row 1 (Right Side): K2, [yo, SKP, K3, K2tog, yo, K1] 4 times, K1.
Row 2 and All Even Rows: Purl.
Row 3: K2, [yo, K1, SKP, K1, K2tog, K1, yo, K1] 4 times, K1.
Row 5: K2, [yo, K2, slip 1, K2tog, psso, K2, yo, K1] 4 times, K1.
Row 7: [K3, K2tog, yo, K1, yo, SKP] 4 times, K3.
Row 9: K2, [K2tog, K1, yo, K1, yo, K1, SKP, K1] 4 times, K1.
Row 11: K1, K2tog, K2, [yo, K1, yo, K2, slip 1, K2tog, psso, K2] 3 times, yo, K1, yo, K2, SKP, K1.
Row 12: Repeat Row 2.
Repeat Rows 1-12 for Strip 2 pattern until 66” from beginning, end pattern Row 12. Bind off.
FINISHING
Sew strips together with Strip 1 on each edge and in the center and with Strip 2 between.
Border Cast on 8 sts.
NOTE: Slip all sts as if to Knit.
Row 1 (Right Side): Slip 1, K2, yo, K2tog, [yo] twice, K2tog, K1 – 9 sts.
Row 2: K3, P1, K2, yo, K2tog, K1.
Row 3: Slip 1, K2, yo, K2tog, K1, [yo] twice, K2tog, K1—10 sts.
Row 4: K3, P1, K3, yo, K2tog, K1.
Row 5: Slip 1, K2, yo, K2tog, K2, [yo] twice, K2tog, K1 – 11 sts.
Row 6: K3, P1, K4, yo, K2tog, K1.
Row 7: Slip 1, K2, yo, K2tog, K6.
Row 8: Bind off first 3 sts, K4, yo, K2tog, K1 – 8 sts.
Repeat Rows 1-8 until Border fits around all 4 sides of Throw, sewing in place as you go and gathering to fit around corners without puckering. Bind off. Sew ends of Border together.
