RED HEART® Super Saver®: 1 skein 313 Aran A, 2 skeins each 400 Grey Heather B and 319 Cherry Red C; 3 skeins 312 Black D.
Crochet Hooks: 4mm [US G-6] and 5mm [US H-8].
GAuGE: Square = 8” x 8”. CHECK YOuR GAuGE. use any size hook to obtain the gauge.
NOTE: When starting or ending any color, leave yarn lengths as follows: 8” each end on C, 4” each on A, B, and D. These yarn ends will later be used to sew Squares together.

Square (Make 36)
Row 1 (Right Side): With larger hook and C, ch 6, dc in 4th, 5th, and 6th ch from hook; turn – 1 motif completed. Row 2: Ch 6, dc in 4th, 5th, and 6th ch from hook, slip st in top of ch-3 of Row 1, ch 3, 3 dc over same ch-3 of Row 1; turn – 2 motifs completed.
Row 3: Ch 6, dc in 4th, 5th, and 6th ch from hook, [slip st in top of next ch-3, ch 3, 3 dc over same ch-3] twice; turn – 3 motifs.
Row 4: Repeat Row 3 working sts in brackets 3 times – 4 motifs.
Row 5: Repeat Row 3 working sts in brackets 4 times; – 5 motifs. Cut yarn.
Row 6: Join B in last dc made. Repeat Row 3 working sts in brackets 5 times – 6 motifs. Cut yarn.
Row 7: Join D in last dc made. Repeat Row 3 working sts in brackets 6 times – 7 motifs. Cut yarn.
Row 8: Join A in last dc made. Repeat Row 3 working sts in brackets 7 times – 8 motifs. Cut yarn.

Row 11: With D repeat Row 10 working sts in brackets 7 times – 7 motifs. Cut yarn.
Row 12: With B repeat Row 10 working sts in brackets 6 times – 6 motifs. Cut yarn.
Row 13: With C repeat Row 10 working sts in brackets 5 times – 5 motifs. Do NOT cut yarn.
Row 14: Slip st in 3 dc and in top of ch-3, [ch 3, 3 dc over same ch-3, slip st in top of next ch-3] 4 times; turn – 4 motifs. Row 15: Repeat Row 14 working sts in brackets 3 times –
3 motifs.
Row 16: Repeat Row 14 working sts in brackets twice – 2 motifs.
Row 17: Repeat Row 14 working sts in brackets once – 1 motif. Fasten off.
Finishing
Large Blocks (Make 9)
Using 4 Squares per Large Block, arrange Squares with C triangle of each Square at center. Take care that all Squares are positioned so that stripes match at sides.
Using yarn ends, sew squares together between motifs on wrong side of work.
Sew Large Blocks together into a 3 Block x 3 Block unit.
Border
Round 1: With right side facing and larger hook, join B in corner; ch 1, ** (sc, ch 2, sc) in corner, * ch 2, sc between next 2 motifs; repeat from * to corner; ch 2; repeat from ** around; join with a slip st in first sc.
Round 2: Slip st in ch-2 corner space, (ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in same space, * 3 dc in next ch-2 space; repeat from * to next corner**, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in corner ch-2 space; repeat from * around, end at **; join in top of ch-3. Cut yarn. Round 3: Join D in any ch-2 corner space; ch 1, ** (sc, ch 2, sc) in corner, ch 2, * skip 3 dc, sc between next two 3-dc groups, ch 2; repeat from * to corner; repeat from ** around; join.
Round 4: Repeat Round 2.
Round 5: Slip st to corner and repeat Round 3. Round 6: Slip st to corner and repeat Round 2. Round 7: Slip st to corner and repeat Round 3.
Round 8: Change to smaller hook; slip st in corner, (ch 3, 2 dc, picot, 3 dc, picot) in corner, * (3 dc, picot) in next ch-2 space; repeat from * to corner; [3 dc, picot] twice in corner; repeat from * around; join. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
