GAUGE

10 sts = about 4 in. (10 cm) in Garter st (knit every row).

BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.

NOTES

  1. Scarf is worked in one piece in Garter st (knit every row) on large needles to make a drapey, open fabric.
  2. The yarn color is changed to make stripes and blocks of color. To change color, just drop the old color and begin knitting with the new color. The pattern will tell you whether you should cut the old color or just carry it along the side edge of your piece.
  3. When you cut the old color of yarn, leave a long yarn tail. You’ll hide this tail by weaving it in later.
  4. An easy way to keep track of your rows in Garter st is to count the ‘ridges’ on your piece. Every 2 rows of Garter st makes 1 ridge. Our pattern provides the ridge counts for each section to make row counting easy for you!
  1. Knotted fringes are added to each end of Scarf.

Make 11 fringes along each end of Scarf.

Along cast on end of Scarf, alternate 6 fringes of C with 5 fringes of B.

Along bound off end of Scarf, alternate 6 fringes of A with 5 fringes of B.

Knot the strands of each fringe about 1 in. (2.5 cm) from ends, then trim yarn ends evenly.
