SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Blank tote
  • Fabric paint: Black, Black Glitter
  • Fabric puffy paint: Natural Glow in the Dark, Purple
  • Medium flat paintbrush
  • Water/paper towels for clean up
  • Pencil

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Paint the entire front of the canvas tote with black paint. Once the black is dry apply a layer of black glitter paint. Allow to dry.
  2. Using a pencil, lightly draw your spider web design onto the painted black side of the tote. Add a spider. In one of the strands add a name into the web for personalization. Make the letters with sharp lines to follow the look of the web.
  3. Go over the web design with Natural Glow in the Dark puff paint to create the web. Add in the spider with Purple puff paint. Once the first layer is dry go over and add interest by adding a second line right next to the web lines with purple paint.
  4. Make sure the paint is fully dried before using the tote. Read paint bottle for specific drying times.

Craft Hack Tips and Tricks:

  • Use a blow dryer to speed up drying but make sure not to bring it too close to the paint as it will move the wet paint.
  • How to draw a spider web: Make a center point and draw lines radiating out to the edges. Next, make lines between those spokes around the entire web, skewing the spacing to make them imperfect to add interest.
