SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Bench Block (or hard work surface)
  • Letter and Symbol Stamps
  • Hammer
  • Masking tape
  • Black permanent marker
  • Metal hole punch
  • Various shaped aluminum blanks
  • Jump rings
  • Chain
  • Rubbing alcohol

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Tape an aluminum blank to the bench block. You can use the tape as a straight line guide for names across the middle or just tape at the edge. The tape is to secure the blank from moving.
  2. Stamp your desired names using the letter and symbol stamps.
  3. Punch a hole at the top of each blank to secure the blank to the chain.
  4. Color in the impressions with black permanent marker. Clean the blank with a paper towel and rubbing alcohol to remove the marker from the surface of the blank. Only leave ink in the impressions to make them stand out.
  5. Attach each blank to the necklace chain with jump rings.

Craft Hack Tips and Tricks:

  • Open and close jump rings by twisting the ring not by pulling the ends apart. This will keep the shape better and it's easier to line the ends up again.
  • When stamping a name or word, figure out the middle letter of the word and stamp that first, then work out from either side to make sure the word is centered.
