  • Yarn needle, 3 2-inch (5 cm) squares of felt in assorted colors, hot glue gun or fabric glue, small amount of polyester fiberfill

Note

Designer recommends hot glue to adhere flowers and skull to hat. An adult should always operate the hot glue gun.

With A, ch 4; join with slip st in first ch to form a ring. Round 1 (right side): Ch 1, 6 sc in ring; join with slip st in first sc—6 sc. Round 3: Ch 1, 2 sc in first st, sc in next st, [2 sc in next st, sc in next st] 5 times; join with slip st in first sc—18 sc. FINISHING Skull

Print template shown on page 2. For each skull, cut forehead flower, nose, and 2 eyes from felt. Apply a small amount of glue on center back of each piece. Referring to photo as a guide, position pieces on skull and, with and straight stitches, sew each piece in place. With B, embroider straight stitch teeth. Weave in ends.

Carnation (make 4: 1 each with C, D, E, and F) Ch 4; join with slip st in first ch to form a ring.
