Beginner 3-5 Hours

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Cardstock
  • Scissors
  • Assorted colors of tulle
  • String
  • Scotch tape
  • Large metal ring
  • White chalk paint (optional)

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Begin by cutting cardstock into circular shapes of various sizes.
  2. Cut straight line from edge to center of the circles.
  3. Cut hole in center of circles about 1"-2" in diameter, depending on the size of the circle.
  4. Cut string about 2'-3' in length and fold in half, attaching the string to the circular cardstock, looping string around cut circle in the center; tape string to cardstock to keep in place.
  5. Loop tulle through center hole and begin wrapping the tulle around the edges and through the center, until the whole circle is wrapped and each end of the string is left out of the tulle.
  6. Tie each end of the string tightly in a bow, and remove cardstock from tulle.
  7. Untie the bow and secure string in a double knot as tightly as possible to secure the tulle; allow for extra string in order to have string to hang the pom-pom from the metal ring.
  8. Adjust tulle and shape into a sphere shape, using scissors to trim edges that stick out.
  9. Repeat steps 4-8 for as many pom-poms as desired.
  10. Optional: Paint white chalk paint on metal ring; allow to dry for at least 1 hour.
  11. Tie several pieces of string across edges of metal ring to create a pie-shaped pattern from which to tie the pom-poms.
  12. Tie several pieces of string across the metal ring to create something from which to hang the mobile.
  13. Attach pom-poms to metal ring by tying string to the grid-like pieces of string.
  14. Layer the pom-poms at different lengths and space them apart evenly.
