DESCRIPTION +

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • McCall's 6275 (Use fabric amounts listed plus 3/8 yd)
  • 1 1/2 yd Rainbow Sequin fabric
  • 1/2 yd Rainbow Stick fabric
  • Small amount of stuffing
  • Kraft Paper for pattern
  • Sewing Notions
  • Glue if necessary

DIRECTIONS:

    Note: All seams are 5/8" unless stated.
  1. To print the patterns, click on the "Download Project PDF" button (above).
  2. Follow pattern instructions for dress pattern View A without pockets. Use sleeve pattern, View B. Make sleeves 5" longer, 1" narrow at the bottom going back into seam at the underarm.
  3. Kraft paper pattern: Hood and Horn will be using 1/4" seam allowance unless stated otherwise.
  4. Hood: Cut a piece of Kraft paper 13" long X 10 1/2" wide. Fold the piece in half lengthwise, this is the widest part of the hood (10 ?"). Shape a curve line by marking 7" across at the top of hood, 10 ?" midway, decreasing to 6" at the bottom. To shape the neckline, measure up 2" at the center back make a curve line to the center front. Cut 2 of sequin, cut 2 of lining.
  5. Mane: Cut two 11" lengths of rainbow stick fabric. Place the 2 pieces of stick fabric together to make a fuller mane. Starting about 3" from the center front, sew to the center back seam of sequin fabric.
  6. Sew the lining hood at the center back seam.
  7. With right sides together, pin the front sequin hood to the lining, sew around the front, turn right sides out. Attach to neckline with a 3/8" seam allowance. Finish neckline with a zig zag or serge to finish seams.
  8. Cut the horn into a cone shape 6 1/2" X 5 1/4" out of Kraft paper. Fold paper in half, shape with a slight curved line from the top of horn 1" going down to the bottom. Cut off excess paper at the top. Cut the horn out of excess fabric, right sides together, fold in half, sew, turn and stuff. Use a needle and heavy thread to use for swirls starting at the top of horn (secure with knotted thread) going around the horn to the bottom. Attach to hood by hand stitching turning under 1/4" seam. (You may want to glue the thread in small areas to the horn to secure if needed).
