DIRECTIONS:

  1. Remove the outer hoop from each of the embroidery hoops and work with the inner hoops only.
  2. Wrap the hoops with the bonbon yarns, switching colors randomly.
  3. Cut 5 strands of hemp cord 36" long.
  4. Holding the ends of each strand, fold over 3" and tie a knot to create a loop. String a 25mm bead over the loops, and place the key ring through the loops for hanging.
  5. String wood beads into each of the 5 strands in the following order, 4 12mm beads, 6 16mm beads.
  6. Wrap the cords around the smaller hoop, spacing them evenly around the hoop and holding them in place with clips.
  7. String each strand with wood beads in the following order, 4 16mm beads, 3 20mm beads, 2 25mm beads.
  8. Wrap the cords around the larger hoop, spacing them evenly around the hoop and holding them in place with clips.
  9. String each strand with wood beads in the following order, 4 16mm beads, 1 20mm bead, 1 25mm bead, 1 20mm bead, 4 16mm beads.
  10. Take the last strand of beads and tie the end of the cord to the top of where the next strand meets the larger hoop, repeating for each strand around. This will create beaded swags around the bottom of the larger hoop.
  11. Create 5 bonbon yarn tassels.
  12. Create a tassel by wrapping yarn around a scrap of cardboard approximately 3" wide. Wrap the yarn around the cardboard 30 times.
  13. Pull the looped yarn off the cardboard and tie another piece of yarn around the top part of the loops.
  14. Tie another length of yarn around all the yarns, about ½" from the top of the tassel.
  15. Cut the ends of the tassel and trim to desired length.
  16. Tie each tassel to the larger hoop where each swag meets the hoop.

JOANN Hacks:

  • Trim any extra cords or thread them into the previous row of beads to hide them.
