SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 1 pkg 20 mm wood beads
  • 1 pkg 25 mm wood beads
  • Navy Blue Rit Liquid Dye
  • Evening Blue Rit Liquid Dye
  • Leather cording
  • Air-dry clay
  • Clay roller
  • Wood skewer
  • Scissors
  • Paper towels

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Roll several balls of clay, slightly smaller then a ping pong ball. Use the palms of your hands to flatten the ball into a disc. Use the wooden skewer to poke a hole in the center of the disc.
  2. Out of a larger piece of clay, pinch and shape a bell shape. Use the wooden skewer to poke a hole in the top of the bell. Set clay items aside to dry according to the directions on the package.
  3. Separate beads to dye, and beads to leave natural.
  4. To dye beads, mix 1/2 cup of dye with 2 cups very hot water in a disposable container. Add beads to dye and stir for about 5 minutes or until desired color is reached. Beads will lighten as they dry. Quickly rinse beads under cool water and than spread onto paper towels to dry.
  5. Cut 2 pieces of leather cording about 30" long. Tie a knot at the end of each piece.
  6. Once beads and clay have dried, string onto cording using photo as a guide. Adjust length, than knot end into a loop to hang.
