GAUGE:
8 1/2 sts = about 4" (10 cm) in Garter st (knit every st on every row).
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.
DIRECTIONS:
NOTES:Scarf is worked in one piece on a circular needle.
The circular needle is used to accommodate the large number of stitches. Work back and forth in rows on the circular needle, just as if working on straight needles.
By binding off and casting on stitches, a slit opening and two 'tails' are created on the Scarf to provide style options when wearing the Scarf.
SCARF:
With A, cast on 84 sts.
Working back and forth in rows on the circular needle, work in Garter st (knit every st on every row) for 12 rows.
Next Row: Knit 9, bind off next 7 sts, knit to last 23 sts, bind off last 23 sts.
Hold end of needle with last sts worked in your left hand. With B, cable cast on 23 sts as follows:
With B, knit 1 st through last st on left hand needle, but do not drop st from left needle; transfer new st from right needle to left needle. *Insert right needle between first 2 sts on left needle; wrap yarn and pull through (as if knitting a st); transfer new st to left needle. Repeat from * until you have cast on 23 sts with B.
Next Row: With B, knit across 23 sts you just cast on, then knit to end of row, casting on 7 sts over the 7 sts you bound off previously.
With B, work in Garter st for 12 rows.
Bind off.
FINISHING:
Weave in yarn ends.
