DIRECTIONS:

STITCH EXPLANATION:
kfb (knit in front and back) Knit next st without removing it from left needle, then k through back of same st - 1 st increased.

NOTE:
Scarf is worked in one piece, beginning with a one-color rib worked on straight needles.
When the first ribbed end of the Scarf is complete, you'll change to working with 2 colors of yarn on a circular needle. You'll still be working back and forth in rows, the circular needle is used so that you won't need to cut the yarn between color changes.
When working with the 2 colors of yarn, sometimes you'll need to turn at the end of row, as you usually would when working in rows, and sometimes you'll need to simply slide the sts to the opposite end of the circular needle to work the next row. This is easy to do - just be sure to follow the pattern carefully and only turn work when instructed.

SCARF:
With A, cast on 21 sts.

Beginning Rib
Row 1: K1, *p1, k1; rep from * to end of row.
Row 2: Knit the knit sts and purl the purl sts across.
Rows 3-14: Rep Row 2.

Change to circular needle.
Row 15: With A, k2, k2tog, *k3, k2tog; rep from * to last 2 sts, k last 2 sts - you'll have 17 sts.
At the end of Row 15 do not turn work, just slide the sts to the opposite end of the circular needle.

Row 2: With A, purl. Do not turn, instead slide sts to opposite end of needle.
