- RED HEART® With Love Chunky™: 1 skein Pewter
- Knitting Needles: 8 mm [US 11] circular needle 24" [60 cm] long
- Stitch marker
- yarn needle
GAUGE: 9 sts = 3¾" [9.5 cm]; 17 rows = 3½" [9 cm] in Garter stitch (knit 1 round, purl 1 round). CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size needle to obtain the gauge.
Note: Gauge is not critical for this project. However, if gauge is not obtained, the final measurements and amount of yarn required may change.
DIRECTIONS:
Special Stitchskp (slip, knit, pass slipped stitch over) = Slip next stitch as if to knit to right needle, knit next stitch, lift slipped stitch over knit stitch and off needle - 1 st decreased.
Notes
Cowl is worked in the round.
If necessary, use a larger needle when casting on and binding off to achieve looser edges.
Cowl measures about 32" [81.5 cm] around and 8" [20.5 cm] high.
COWL: Cast on 76 sts. Being careful not to twist cast-on stitches, prepare to work in rounds. Place marker on needle to indicate beginning of round. Slip marker as each round is completed.
Beginning Edge
Round 1: Purl.
Round 2: Knit.
Rounds 3 and 4: Repeat Rounds 1 and 2.
Body
Round 1: Knit.
Round 2: Purl.
Round 3: Knit.
Round 4: *Yarn over, skp; repeat from * around.
Round 5: Knit.
Round 6: Purl.
Round 7: Knit.
Round 8: *Yarn over, k2tog; repeat from * around.
Rounds 9-24: Repeat Rounds 1-8 twice.
Rounds 25-31: Repeat Rounds 1-7.
Ending Edge
Round 1: Knit.
Round 2: Purl.
Rounds 3 and 4: Repeat Rounds 1 and 2.
Bind off loosely, as fit to knit.
FINISHING
Weave in ends. Block if necessary.
