SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Everything Mary Tan Microfiber Adjustable Shoulder Strap
  • Everything Mary Tan Microfiber Braided Handles
  • Coats Separating Sport Zipper, 22 in / 56 cm / 13
  • Khaki green fabric, 2 yards
  • Striped Trim
  • Sewing Machine
  • Thread to match fabric color
  • Scissors
  • Tape measure

DIRECTIONS:

    (Note: 1/2" seam allowance used throughout)
  1. Cut a piece of fabric 22" x 2 1/2". Fold it in half lengthwise with right sides together. Sew along the raw edge. Turn the piece right side out. Cut the piece into 2 3/4" pieces. These will be the tabs for attaching the straps. 

  2. Cut the fabric to the following sizes:
  3. 4 top pieces, 23" x 6", set aside 2 for the lining
  4. 4 top end pieces, 12" x 2 1/2", set aside 2 for the lining
  5. 4 side pieces, 26" x 16", set aside 2 for the lining
  6. 4 end pieces 17" x 12 1/2", set aside 2 for the lining
  7. 2 base pieces, 26" x 12 1/2", set aside 1 for the lining

  8. Sew the zipper between the two top pieces and the two top lining pieces. 

  9. Fold a tab in half over the O ring of the braided handles and baste to the top section, 6" from the middle on either side. Repeat for all sides. 

  10. Sew the top section to the side piece, sandwiching the handle tabs in between the two. 

  11. Sew the striped trim down the middle of the top and side pieces, attaching it to the right side of the fabric. 

  12. Sew the end pieces to the top section. 

  13. Fold a tab in half over the D ring of the shoulder strap and baste to the side piece. Repeat with other end on other side piece. 

  14. Sew the side pieces to the end pieces.
  15. Sew the base piece to all sides.
  16. Sew the end lining pieces to the top lining pieces.
  17. Sew the side lining pieces to the end lining pieces.
  18. Sew the side lining to the end lining.
  19. Sew the base lining to all sides of the lining, leaving an opening for turning.

  20. Hand stitch the opening closed.
  21. Top stitch around the zipper.
